Dueling Pianos

VFW Post 7105 invites the community to help celebrate the 251st Birthday of the U.S. Army and to commemorate Flag Day. The event will be held at VFW Post 7105 located at 710 S. Washington St. in Fredericksburg. Following the short ceremony there will be a cake cutting to celebrate the 251st birthday of the U.S. Army. The U.S. Army was founded on the 14th of June in 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized enslistment of expoert riflemen to serve the United Colonies for one year. Summer Camp Programming

Set out on the Texas Frontier Trail this summer at Fort Martin Scott! Gather your party, load your wagon, and prepare for the challenges of frontier life in Texas! Cross rivers, encounter outlaws, trade with settlers and Native peoples, and try not to catch dysentery as you experience the dangers and adventures of the “Wild West” alongside staff and volunteers from historic sites across the Texas Historical Commission. $30 per child and 7-13 is preferred for the age. Participating Sites: • Fort Martin Scott • Fort Griffin • Fort Lancaster • Fort McKavett • Kreische Brewery & Landmark Inn A small popup shop will also be available during camp that will represent each site involved. Additional Information: • Bring your own water bottle • Closed-toed shoes required • Personal snacks are welcome • Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty • Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend

Outpost: Medical Miracles

For those fighting in the Pacific, severe wounds and illness posed constant and often deadly threats. Harsh conditions, limited resources, and tropical diseases made survival a challenge for many service members during the war. This FREE Outpost program offers visitors an opportunity to learn about medical care and advancements during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Guests can explore real artifacts while gaining insight into battlefield medicine, disease prevention, and the doctors, nurses, and corpsmen whose work saved thousands of lives. Outpost programs are educational, drop-in experiences held on select Saturdays on the Nimitz Platz at 340 E Main St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and engage directly with history.
