How Luckenbach Got It's Name
Luckenbach was established in 1849. One of the first settlers in the area was Jacob Luckenbach (1817-1911). A group of German nobility, the Adelsverein, hoped for great riches by establishing a colony in the New World. In 1845 Jacob signed
up and sailed with his family on the Johann Dethardt to Indianola in December. How Luckenbach Got It's Name

Jacob Luckenbach is known to have come to Texas as early as the mid-1830’s and was among the Texans, including many Texas-Germans, who helped to win Texas’ independence from Mexico. The Bounty and Donation Land Grants of Texas
1835-1888, shows that he was awarded payment for service in the Texas army from May to September 15, 1836. 150

The smaller a place is the greater the big things in it are missed. We were mad when the souvenir vultures stole the old
signs and antique fire truck. We smarted when the blacksmith shop washed down creek. We felt an even bigger shock
when the 2002 Flood took the cotton gin. Even the voices and faces of Hondo, Tex and Sam have faded into the moonlight.

The Luckenbach General Store has been in operation since 1849, and our merchandise has ranged from agricultural,
mechanical and medicinal to domestic apparel. Nowadays, we can offer a lot of the items found in the store online. ALL DOMESTIC SHIPMENTS WILL BE SENT BY UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE!

wood-burning iron stove that heats up deer sausage in the winter and is a nest for mama chickens in the spring.

At The Luckenbach Bar, we like to philosophize, drink longnecks, play dominos, and tell stories in the bar.

Most everyday you'll find singer/songwriters from near and afar playing their latest compositions. On weekends,
crowds gather out under the huge live oaks to listen to the jam sessions. Come on by and enjoy a longneck, listen

Not only can you rent the world famous Luckenbach Dancehall, you can rent the whole dang place! All ten magnificent acres! For weddings, receptions, birthdays, anniversaries, business meetings, family reunions, graduations and surprize parties...the Luckenbach Dancehall is ideal for social gatherings of any kind.

Catered BBQ, Mexican or "gore-may" meals are easily arranged and we can help you find a dance band to suit your occasion.
We can even get Willie! The Dancehall rental includes use of a portion of the patio, campfire and surrounding parking areas. Anytime the Dancehall is in use, the General Store, Post Office and Beer Joint are open, too.

Luckenbach stocks many brands of beer in both longnecks and cans. Don't tell nobody, but, we offer a house Merlot,
Zinfandel and Chardonnay by the glass, sodas and bottled water.

Let us plan your entire event! Luckenbach has an excellent working relationship with caterers, floral designers,
cake decorators, dance bands and photographers. Our Rental Coordinator, Abbey will be happy to arrange everything
you need to make your party a hassle-free experience. You do the partying, let us do the work!
Luckenbach Party Information

Located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, surrounded by majestic old oaks and pecans, Luckenbach can be the perfect setting for your special event or party. Whether you are interested in renting our legendary dancehall, or all or part of our magnificent 10 acres, we can help you plan a wedding, reception, party or meeting that will be memorable!!

DANCEHALL INFORMATION

The dancehall is equipped with 21 picnic-style tables with pull up backed benches comfortably seating 150 – 165 people, leaving a large dance floor available. Additional tables can be rented to accommodate larger crowds up to 300.

* The stage is equipped with convenient electrical outlets and lighting, a backstage loading area and two backstage rooms.
* The main dancehall area has ceiling fans and twinkle lights throughout. Windows open on all sides of the dancehall for comfortable air circulation. A wheelchair ramp is available, also.
* A brick patio is located at the front of the dancehall and is included in the rental. Become a “legend” and purchase an engraved brick!!

SORRY, NO BYOB, PURDY PLEASE!

A bar can be set up for your convenience in the dancehall. It will be stocked with the same items available in our “Beer Joint”, such as premium and regular beers, both longneck and cans ($3.00); wine coolers and malt beverages like Smirnoff Ice, Fuzzy Navel, Margarita Ice, etc. ($3.00); our house chardonnay, white zinfandel and merlot ($4.00/glass); soda and bottled water ($1.00). Special wines and champagne are also available by special order.

We will staff the dancehall bar with a TABC certified bartender and a barback. An hourly fee will be charged for this staff service (plus a gratuity on open and modified bars).

Available bar options are:

* OPEN BAR: tab is run and applied to your rental
* CASH BAR: guests pay at the bar
* MODIFIED: an open bar limit is established prior to the party
* Or you have the option of your guests purchasing their drinks at our “Beer Joint” located just across the road from the dancehall.

We require a licensed security guard for all private parties to insure that only your invited guests attend. Additional security
may be required for parties larger than 150 guests or parties where guests arrive by busload.

CATERING AND CAKE DECORATORS

We have a close relationship with excellent caterers (from down-home, lip-smackin’ BBQ to international cuisine). Our cake decorators are just as fabulous.

OTHER

We have a good working relationship with rental businesses, florists, etc. We’ll be happy to help you make arrangements for anything you could possibly imagine for your special occasion.

ENTERTAINMENT

We continue to develop a long list of dance bands that are compatible with the atmosphere of the dancehall. Taking into consideration your budget, music interest and the band’s availability, we can have just about “anybody” play at your party!
We also work with DJ’s that can provide any type music you would like.

GALLERY

The atmosphere of our old time dancehall lends itself to a wide variety of decorating ideas. Anything from western to formal, from extravagant to the “dancehall is it’s own décor”. These pictures show you some of the decorating ideas that others have used, or you can create your own and become part of our gallery!

* The dance hall is over 100 years old and made entirely of wood, we ask that no candles or open flames be used.

PRICES

Several price packages are available for your convenience or we can help you “build your own” rental in “bits and pieces”.
Below are some of the options we offer and what is included. Note that catering, decorating, entertainment and
bar beverages, etc. are extra.

1. Wedding Package: Includes rental of the Dancehall, 21 picnic style tables with backed benches, a portion of patio area
in front of the dancehall, dancehall bar set up and staffed for five hours, one security guard, designated parking for your
guests and grounds area with chairs set up for up to 150 people. Prices range from $1250.00 to $2600.00 depending
on the day and the season of the year. The same package is available at a reduced rate for Sunday – Thursday rentals.
2. Build-Your-Own: We will be happy to work with you to customize your rental the way you want. For your convenience,
we ask that all initial arrangements and contact for services go through our rental office. It’s important for your event
that things go smoothly and we will do our best to see that this happens.
