This is where raw talent meets raw beauty. The Hill Country Film Festival is a three-day independent film festival in the heart of the Hill Country, Fredericksburg, Texas. Created to celebrate and showcase filmmakers from Texas and around the world, the festival began in 2010. HCFF screens independent films, both short and feature length, hosts filmmaker Q&A/interviews, discussion panels, a filmmaker's lounge and festival parties. Film festivals are created for various reasons... the Hill Country Film Festival was created out of love of the entire film festival experience! A film festival involves the screening of entries, educational programs and social gatherings that support new and often unknown films, while getting filmmakers and their fans together. Festivals are held all around the world. Some festivals are even theme specific, for example: a horror film festival, documentary film festival or an animation film festival. Others play a variety of films, ranging from shorts to features, comedies to dramas, and docs to cartoons. How often do you have the opportunity to talk to a director about his process or meet an actress from the short you just watched? But film festivals are more than just film screenings, as a participant, you’ll also attend parties, and sit in on panel discussions with industry professionals. This is an interactive event that is entertaining, as well as thought provoking and educational! Join us won't you? In the CELEBRATION of FILM!

"Who needs Europe? The Texas Hill Country, west of Austin and north of San Antonio, might be the next best thing to crossing the Atlantic. The region is lush, colorful and, unlike much of the pancake-flat state, dotted with beautiful green hills that are evocative of Tuscany or the south of France. Moreover, the region is speckled with 22 wineries that buzz with food and music festivals year round. And towns like Fredericksburg offer a taste of the Old World, with German-style biergartens and schnitzelhauser. "

5 Eco-Friendly Wineries
Composting, recycling, and natural pest management is just the starting point for Pedernales Cellars. By building underground, this Texas Hill Country winery takes advantage of the area’s natural limestone to provide a cool and steady environment for case storage, slashing the facility’s energy consumption in half. Removal of invasive plant species and cedar overgrowth from the property has also led to the reemergence of previously lost seeps and springs. An added bonus? The tasting room features local and sustainable products like Bella Vista Ranch’s olive oils and t-shirts made from renewable bamboo fibers.
