Join us for the 15th Annual and best ever Becker Vineyards Lavender Festival. Sip and swirl with live music, guest artisans and lavender fields in bloom. There will be lavender products, plants, vendors, cooking demos, guest speakers, culinary delights, concessions, wine tasting & tours, vintner luncheons & dinner, music and much more. The Lavender Fields at Becker Vineyards are 3 estate acres just off the winery Verandah. The blooming season for the lavender is typically in April to May but varies with the notorious Texas weather. The plants can be viewed year round, and guests are encouraged to experience the field with a relaxing stroll and as a memorable photo op. The field provides the core extract for all of Becker Vineyards Lavender products.

This is pari-mutuel horse racing the whole family can enjoy. Racing weekends include dancing, entertainment, a variety of food and drinks, along with all of the attractions of historic Fredericksburg. The Live Racing Schedule for 2013 is: July 6 and 7th, July 20 and 21st, August 10 and 11th, August 24 and 25th. Post time is 1:00 pm each day. Gates open at 11:00 am and races run until about 6 pm. The Summer Season brings four weekends of live horse racing at the Fairgrounds' Class 3 track. Live races feature quarter horse and thoroughbred racing, as well as, special races, trials and futurities. The Gillespie County Fairgrounds are located 2 miles south of Fredericksburg, on Texas Highway 16 South. Enjoy year 'round Simulcast Racing in the Biergarten at the Race Barn. Quarter horse, thoroughbred and greyhound races are simulcast in the Biergarten from Texas ans out-of-state-tracks. The Race Barn is located at the Hwy 16 entrance to the Fairgrounds. Hours are Thursday - Sunday, 1pm - close.

Fredericksburg CELEBRATES its German heritage! OKTOBERFEST! Oompah at its best. German music, food and drink, arts and crafts, children's area and family fun. OKTOBERFEST is a community event of family entertainment featuring Three Stages of continuous Oompah Music, Arts and Crafts, Children's Fun Area, Kinder Park, a German Bier Tent, Oktoberfest Vineyard area, OkTUBAfest, Chicken Dance Around the Square, Domino Tournament, delicious food and lots of cold drinks ... all weekend long! Friday: Don't miss the OkTubaFest, performing inside the front gate for everyone's entertainment. Saturday: Be sure to join us for the Annual Chicken Dance in Front of the Square on Main! Registration begins at 9AM, and the Chicken Dance will commence at 9:30 AM sharp! The first 330 registrants will receive a special surprise! Sunday: Do you love to play 42? Join us for our 42 Tournament in the Strassen Zelt on Adams. Registration begins at noon, and the tournament begins at 1PM. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.

The Mesquite Arts Festival is the second weekend in October and has become one of the top events in Fredericksburg. The festival, like mesquite wood itself, has come a long way since the first event in 1992. Visitors will be treated to collections of sculpted wood from the world's absolute finest mesquite craftsmen. Items range from large furniture items such as beds, dressers and chairs made entirely from mesquite, to unique craft and gift items such as beautifully turned lamps, delicate scroll work, handsome pen and pencil sets, unique Christmas tree ornaments, and sculpted vases, all carefully crafted of mesquite.

"Celebrate Texas Food and Wine!" The Fredericksburg Food and Wine Fest will be in its 23rd year in 2013! CHEERS! The Festival is held in historic, downtown Fredericksburg, Texas, at Marktplatz (100 block of West Main Street). Guest Chefs, Texas Wineries and Texas Specialty Booths, "Taste Texas at its finest"! This is a full-course celebration of Texas Food, Wine, Beer, and Music. Up to 25 Texas wineries will be on hand pouring over 100 different wines. The Grape Expectations Cooking School, on Saturday, starts at noon and features Texas chefs demonstrating what they do BEST. Entertainment by Texas musicians: El Tule, Spare Parts, Sons of Father and Josh Dodds, ALL day long!

This is where raw talent meets raw beauty. The Hill Country Film Festival is a three-day independent film festival in the heart of the Hill Country, Fredericksburg, Texas. Created to celebrate and showcase filmmakers from Texas and around the world, the festival began in 2010. HCFF screens independent films, both short and feature length, hosts filmmaker Q&A/interviews, discussion panels, a filmmaker's lounge and festival parties. Film festivals are created for various reasons... the Hill Country Film Festival was created out of love of the entire film festival experience! A film festival involves the screening of entries, educational programs and social gatherings that support new and often unknown films, while getting filmmakers and their fans together. Festivals are held all around the world. Some festivals are even theme specific, for example: a horror film festival, documentary film festival or an animation film festival. Others play a variety of films, ranging from shorts to features, comedies to dramas, and docs to cartoons. How often do you have the opportunity to talk to a director about his process or meet an actress from the short you just watched? But film festivals are more than just film screenings, as a participant, you’ll also attend parties, and sit in on panel discussions with industry professionals.
