Delicious golden fried catfish and all the trimmings are served up every year on the Saturday before Labor Day at the Doss Fire Station. The Fish Fry is the fire department’s annual fund raiser and has become a tradition for many families near and far. The event draws crowds of two to three thousand people each year. The price of the meal is by donation and includes American-raised fried catfish, potato salad, beans, cole slaw, fresh veggies, drinks and homemade desserts. There are also raffle tickets sold and many prizes given away during the event. Additionally, t-shirts and other memorabilia are available for sale. Live music will be on hand to dance the night away!!

The official running event of Oktoberfest! A 5K or 8K timed run or 5K non-timed walk through quaint Fredericksburg streets. A German-themed post-race celebration follows the race. Kraut Run is dog-friendly and stroller friendly. Athletes and spectators are encouraged to wear Oktoberfest costumes. Top three costumes receive bragging rights on social media. The Fredericksburg Oktoberfest Park & Ride offers convenient parking by providing riders with all day park and ride access between the Gillespie County Fairgrounds parking area and the Oktoberfest festival located in downtown Fredericksburg. Celebrate the 250th anniversary of our independence with us on Saturday, July 4th! The parade will begin lining up behind the Gillespie County Courthouse at 8:00 a.m. The parade proceeds east on Main Street to the intersection of Main and Washington Street. It will U-turn there and go west to Bowie Street. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or park a vehicle along the route to enjoy the parade. Following the Main Street Parade, join us at Marktplatz for a Patriotic Program and Concert by Bill Smallwood. Churches in Fredericksburg will participate in a celebratory bell ringing at noon.
